FAQ
Learn About Color Analysis Services
Where did Carisa Danielson learn about color analysis?
She was trained through Color Guru, a respected leader in personalized seasonal color analysis.
What is color analysis and how does it work?
We start by assessing your natural skin tone, eye, and hair color to find your most flattering color palette—one of the four seasons and then a more specific sub-season.
How much does a color analysis session cost?
A session with Carisa takes about 1.5 hours and you receive the following:
- Laminated and digital color cards featuring your top 35 shades
- Gold or silver earrings based on your best metals
- Personalized makeup and hair color recommendations
- Photographs of you draped in your best color combinations
- Shopping links tailored to your season
- Exclusive freebies
- 20% off your purchase at TFZ Ames
The color analysis service fee is $195
Can I do a virtual color analysis online?
No, at this time we do not offer virtual appointments.
What should I wear after a color analysis consultation?
Following your session with Carisa at The Funky Zebras of Ames, you’ll take home a personalized color card designed just for you. Use it while shopping or styling outfits at home to confidently build a wardrobe around your seasonal palette. With your best shades in hand, you’ll always look radiant, refined, and effortlessly put-together—no more guessing what works.
What’s the difference between warm, cool, and neutral skin tones?
Warm skin tones typically carry golden or yellow undertones, cool tones lean toward pink or blue, and neutral tones have a balanced mix of both. During your color analysis appointment, Carisa uses professional draping and evaluation techniques to pinpoint your undertone and connect you with the seasonal palette that enhances your natural beauty.
Does color analysis apply to makeup too?
Absolutely! Your color season influences more than just your wardrobe—it also helps you discover the most flattering makeup shades, from foundation to lipstick. During your consultation, Carisa will apply lip color and recommend makeup tones that align with your seasonal palette, including foundation, blush, and lipsticks.
Through her partnership with Seint thru Katie, you’ll have the option to purchase makeup directly at your session or schedule a deeper analysis afterward for even more personalized guidance.
How often should I update my color analysis?
For most women, one color analysis lasts a lifetime. But if you’ve gone through big changes—such as transitioning to natural gray or making a dramatic hair color shift—it can be helpful to schedule a follow-up session to confirm that your palette still highlights your best features.
Are there colors that look good on everyone?
Yes! Some shades are considered “universal colors” because they balance both warm and cool undertones beautifully. True red, soft off-white, periwinkle, and a range of navy blues tend to look flattering across every seasonal palette. These colors naturally brighten the complexion, complement a variety of skin tones, and create a polished, timeless look—making them safe, go-to options no matter your season.
Does hair color come into play in a color consult?
Yes—your hair is part of the overall picture, but the focus is always on your natural coloring. Whether your hair contrasts with or blends into your skin tone and eye color, and whether it’s your natural shade or color-treated, Carisa considers it all when determining your best palette.
